Hi, I’m Christian Ruiz, the founder of Tha Singing Coach—a coaching platform that’s helped thousands of singers unlock their true vocal potential. But before I could help others, I had to go on my own journey to find my voice.
As a kid, my voice was my playground. I’d imitate electric guitars, create quirky noises, and experiment with sound. At just four years old, I sang at a school play in front of a big audience. Back then, I didn’t realize it, but that moment planted a seed for something far greater.
Years later, sitting around a fire with friends, guitar in hand, I felt something was missing. The music brought us together, but when it came time to sing, I couldn’t do it. My voice didn’t feel strong, and I lacked confidence.
Determined to change that, I threw myself into music. I practiced guitar obsessively, earned a scholarship to study music, and even joined a jazz big band. But no matter how much I accomplished, one thing haunted me—I still couldn’t sing the way I wanted to.
When I returned to my native country for further study, my vocal struggles caught up with me. My technique was so poor that during a singing test, my teacher bluntly told me:
“You’ll never make it as a singer.”
His words devastated me. But instead of giving up, I made a decision:
I would prove him wrong.
I spent years searching for answers. I tried vocal coaches, books, and programs—some worked a little, but none gave me the breakthrough I needed. High notes were still a struggle, and I felt stuck.
Until I discovered vocal science.
